About This Course: 

The SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care at City of Glasgow College is aimed at those working in the health and social care sector . This is a work based qualification that meets the requirements of the Social Care Sector in line with registration and regulation of the Social Care workforce and current occupational standards. 

SVQs are an affirmation of the workers competence to practice in their job role and areas of responsibility. 

All assessment is work based and is carried out within the care setting.

What You Need: 

To be employed in the health and care sector for a minimum of 6 months.

What You Study: 

The course includes mandatory units in Level 2:

  • Communication,
  • Health and Safety,
  • Develop Your Practice,
  • Protection and Wellbeing 

plus optional units.

After The Course: 

Work within social care roles working with groups such as older adults, people with learning difficulties, adult care, community care, offenders, residential childcare or the addiction field.

How Long: 

Candidates will take between 6-12 months to complete this qualification (depending on experience).
