Faculty of Nautical and STEM

The Faculty offers a wide range of Nautical and STEM subjects including

  • Blended and Distance Learning.
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Maritime Engineering.
  • Nautical Science.

  • Software Engineering. 
  • Cyber Security & Networking.

All our courses are delivered by dedicated teaching staff in excellent facilities supported by industry standard equipment.

We have a full range of marine operations courses from mandatory training for Merchant Navy Officers to a range of short courses such as MCA, RYA, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) and Personal Survival Techniques (PST) for the professional development of seafarers.

There is a range of vendor qualifications embedded into our HND computing courses such as Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle and Adobe enabling our students to earn additional accreditation as well as being credited with SQA units as they work towards an HND qualification, all adding to employability prospects.

Partner Organisations

  • The Faculty works closely with, and provides training for, a number of organisations including Clyde Marine Training which recruits approximately 50% of the annual Trainee Officer intake for the British Merchant Navy. 
  • We also work with the Ship Safe Training Group (SSTG) which recruits new entrant deck and engineer officer cadets for a career at sea onboard our members' vessels operating worldwide. Their member companies include Global Marine Systems, P&O Ferries, North Star Shipping and Evergreen Marine.
  • Stream Marine Training working with the college offering deck and engineering cadetships.

The Engineering Academy

City of Glasgow College has worked in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde and other further education colleges to create The Engineering Academy. Students who choose to study an HNC/HND Engineering discipline will have the opportunity to progress to the second year of an undergraduate engineering degree programme with the University of Strathclyde after their first successful year at the college.
