Overview

The MCA STCW Elementary First Aid is a one day course that meets the MCA mandatory requirements and is a basic first aid qualification for those in the Maritime Industry.  

The course will provide seafarers with the basic knowledge of first aid to deal with medical emergencies at sea.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

You must be at least 16 years old.

 

What you study

On this course you will cover the following:

  • Safety and Approach.
  • Scene Management.
  • How to Deal with an Unconscious Casualty.
  • CPR.
  • Wounds and Bleeding.
  • Burns and Scalds.
  • Electrical Injuries.
  • Transportation of Casualties.

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates are awarded an STCW Elementary First Aid Certificate.

After the course

Careers

You can progress on to the 4 day STCW Medical First Aid course.
