Overview

The course will provide you with an introduction to the world of sugarcraft. It includes 3 SQA units including covering royal icing, sugarcraft and cake decoration techniques. You'll also learn about various modern sugarcraft techniques.  This is a professional vocational programme and appropriate clothing must be worn. You'll also be expected to purchase specialist equipment.  This new course is perfect for you if you are looking to improve your cake decorating and learn tips of the trade from an expert!

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Numeracy and Communication at SCQF Level 4
  • Catering, Home Economics, Food Technology or Cake Decoration at SCQF Level 5

  • Cake Decoration; Sugar paste Processes
  • Cake Decoration Techniques

  • Theoretical knowledge is taught through practical application
  • Practical Assessments carried out by Course Tutor on a weekly basis.

  • Written Assessments for all SQA Units
  • Practical Assessments carried out by Course Tutor. Commercially acceptable products to be produced.
