Overview

This 5-week evening course will appeal to anyone involved in teaching higher photography and is part of our new suite of Photo Basics courses. This course will focus on working in a photography studio - using lighting, constructing sets and experimenting with ideas. An ideal support for teachers looking to improve lighting skills to support students for higher or portfolio.

 

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

This course is delivered to support Higher Photography Teachers. Although there are no entry requirements it would be expected that you are involved in delivering Higher Photography.

What you study

You will study:-

  • Setting up and manipulating lighting.
  • Creative approaches to controlling light and shadow for still life or portraiture.
  • Planning and creating studio projects.
  • Basic set construction to enhance studio projects can be explored.
  • A range of lighting/reflector and flagging techniques will be introduced to help you in preparing a studio set up.
  • Creativity and experimentation with set construction and lighting approaches will be the focus of this class.

 

After the course

Careers

This course is designed to equip you with some skills and knowledge to apply to any studio set up with controlled lighting to support the delivery of higher photography.

Continuing study

This course will support you in teaching higher photography.

The course will be taught through lectures, tutorials/demonstrations in well-equipped photography studios with practical projects and exercises.
