Overview

A 3 year course to become a operative in the Gas Industry obtaining a certificate of competence to work on gas appliances in the domestic market.  Final qualifications will include ACS, Central Heating Boilers, Cookers, Fires, Warm Air and CPA1. The course is spread over 14 weeks in the first 2 years and 10 weeks on year 3.  Weekly block release.

 

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

You should have job-related experience in Mechanical Services, Mechanical, Engineering or Electrical, or have a placement within the industry as an apprentice.  You will be selected through college tests and a interview process.

 

What you study

Full and complete training on the Accredited Certification Scheme, also covering a wide range of domestic gas appliances, install, commission, service and fault in all categories.

 

After the course

Careers

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to join the Gas Safety Register and will be qualified to work as a Gas Engineer within the Domestic Gas Industry.  Further training and assessment can be undertaken to acquire competencies in other area.

A mixture of theory and practical tasks.  Classroom and workshop based.

Written and practical examinations.

Dress code

Work uniform, safety PPE whilst on practical tasks, smart casual during class based activities.
