Maritime careers on course at Super College

Prospective seafarers are getting an insight into careers in the maritime industry.

City of Glasgow College is holding a cadetship recruitment event at the college’s Riverside campus on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 August.

Clyde Marine Training, Chiltern Maritime, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Ship Safe Training Group, Anglo Eastern and V-Ships are just some of the shipping companies attending this two day event.

With 90% of all world trade taking place at sea it is an exciting industry to be part of and the open days are a great chance for those interested in a career at sea to discuss opportunities with companies who are currently recruiting.

Those attending will also get a tour of the industry standard facilities available at the maritime campus as well as being able to meet with and get first-hand accounts of life at sea, and at the college, from current students.

The recruiting event has been organised by the Faculty of Nautical Studies who offer a wide range of nautical subjects including Deck and Engineering Officer Trainee Programmes and Advanced Tanker Courses; as well as the full range of marine operations courses.

City of Glasgow College’s Riverside campus opened to staff and students in August 2015 and is responsible for training one third of all UK Merchant Marine Officers. The level of teaching experience and expertise, and industry standard facilities are helping to provide the maritime industry with its next generation of skilled seafarers.
