Applying for Part Time Courses
Applicants wishing to study part-time can fill in an online application form from May 2012 or alternatively download an application form and return it to the address shown on the form.
Enrolment
Usually on the first day of the course. Some part time courses are offered through special arrangement with employers. Employers and employees should contact the relevant College Department direct.
Fees
Students studying part-time courses will be expected to pay tuition fees and any other subsequent fees, for example examination fees. However, part time students who can show that they are receiving a means tested benefit can apply for their fees to be waived. Fee waiver forms are available from the college Finance Office on 0141 566 4152. If your company is paying your course fees, then you should arrange for your company / sponsoring organisation to send written authorisation to the College or by email to finance@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk. We will only send an invoice once authorisation has been received.
Part Time Fee Grant
This scheme is the new way to get help paying for the cost of your learning. If you have an individual income of up to £22,000 a year this scheme will provide you with up to £500 per year towards the cost of your part-time Higher Education course fees.
Eligibility
You need to be studying at a Scottish Institution on a part-time Higher Education course, Professional Development Award (PDA) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at levels 7-11 of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) and complete between 40-90 SCQF credits per year. Eligible learners studying less than 40 SCQF credits may qualify for the ILA200 please refer to ILA Scotland website.
Any student in receipt of full-time student support from SAAS is not eligible for the part-time fee grant. This includes students who are registered as full-time but attending on a part-time basis. Also, the part-time fee grant funding is not available if you are already receiving support for other government training schemes. This includes ILA200, Training for Work, Get Ready for Work and the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme.
How do I apply?
Your application must be with SAAS no later than one month after your course starts.
If your application is with SAAS later than one month after your course starts then your application will be rejected. You can only apply by downloading a copy of the Part-Time Fee Grant application from the SAAS website.
ESOL
The College offers a range of English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) courses. Applicants wishing to study ESOL can download an application form and return to the address shown on the form.
When the college receives your application form it will be acknowledged and a date will be given for an English test. This allows us to establish your level of English and place you on an appropriate waiting list. We would only contact you again when a place becomes available.
