The Industry Academy Model is a way to channel the College's Curriculum and Activity to the benefit of our learners, in partnership with industry, by harnessing the expertise of our Staff across the college.

Industry partnerships allow the college to ensure that we have a curriculum that meets industry needs and importantly embeds the employability skills to ensure our learners enter sustainable employment.

The three sectorial Industry Academies in this faculty are:-

Food and Hospitality; Hair, Beauty and Complementary Therapies; Sport.

Elspeth is the Head of Industry Academy for the Faculty of Leisure and Lifestyle which covers the following five curriculum areas: Beauty; Food; Hairdressing; Hospitality and Sport.
The Faculty delivers its programmes in a range of real work environments including salons, therapy suites, kitchens, sports facilities and a training restaurant and bistro as well as in more traditional classrooms. In addition many students have access to work placements.

Elspeth graduated as a Physical Education teacher and worked in schools for a short time, before joining the college as a Sports Lecturer. She co-developed the HND Sport and Hospitality Management course which ran solely at the college for 15 years. Elspeth went on to be the Curriculum Leader for the HND Coaching with Sport Development course.

In Elspeth’s current role she is supporting the Faculties 11 Academic Curriculum Heads by helping to create new workplace opportunities and training for students, CPD opportunities for staff, increasing the Industry connections of the sections, and increasing new and current commercial partnership opportunities.
