Overview

This course is for anyone looking to gain the qualifications required to apply for the HNC Marine Engineering or HNC Nautical Science Cadet Programmes.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Three National 4 qualifications including Maths, Physics or Technological Studies; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
  • If you have left school and acquired other life skills which don’t meet the qualifications above, you may be able to gain access through to recognised prior learning of your skills.

  • You'll be invited to a group and/or individual interview where you'll get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area.

You'll study a range of subjects which will develop your skills in an academic and maritime context. You'll develop a range of skills and in subjects such as:

After the course

Careers

You'll be eligible to apply for the NC Shipping and Maritime Operations course which leads to the first stage of qualification as a sea-going Deck or Engineering Officer.
