Overview

The CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in HR Management will provide the perfect platform to further develop your HR career at management level. It will develop your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of different HR models and practices and increase your understanding of external factors that impact on HR and organisations whilst building expertise in HR specialist subjects.  The qualification will also develop your planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Successful completion of the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management leads to Associate membership of the CIPD. Associate membership is the first level of professional membership of the CIPD, allowing you to use the designation Assoc CIPD after your name to showcase your professional accreditation and achievements. This achievement will make a positive impact upon your career and is respected and valued by employers. It also emphasises your commitment to continuing professional development. 

You will be required to become a student member of the CIPD (cost in 19/20 = £135.00). The CIPD will contact you directly after you start on the course.

Successful completion of this Certificate can provide a route for entry to the highly regarded CIPD Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management - the gateway qualification to becoming a Chartered Member of the CIPD.

Please note there are an additional 10 evening attendances and three Saturday mornings required across the academic year.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Significant current or recent experience in HR role(s) (Essential).
  • Ability to write English to a high standard (SCQF level 8/9) (Essential).
  • If English isn’t your first language you’ll need to provide evidence that you’ve achieved ESOL Intermediate Level 2 (or equivalent) (Essential).
  • CIPD Level 3 Certificate in HR Practice (Desirable).
