Overview

This course will introduce you to carpentry and joinery skills. You'll learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment within the Construction Industry.

You'll be taught by staff with significant Construction Industry experience and a proven track record of bringing out the best in their students.

Minimum entry requirements

There are no formal entrance qualifications, but you should be interested in carpentry and joinery and be able to demonstrate this during the application process, as well as in the compulsory pre-course guidance sessions.

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject.

What you study

You'll Study:

  • Principles of building construction, information and communication.
  • Using and maintaining carpentry and joinery hand tools.
  • Preparing and using carpentry and joinery portable power tools.
  • Producing woodworking joints.
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction.

You'll also have the opportunity to develop skills in communication, numeracy and ICT.
