Overview

This course is suited to those who have previous experience in Carpentry and Joinery and would like to develop their skills further.

The course runs for 6 months from January - June.

Watch as our students and staff talk about the learning experience at the College.

On successful completion of this course candidates will receive a Diploma in Painting and Decorating at SCQF Level 5.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • City and Guilds Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery at SCQF Level 4 or equivalent; OR
  • Relevant qualifications at National 4 (technical); OR
  • Relevant industrial experience.

You will be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you are interested in this subject.

What you study

  • Health, Safety Welfare in Construction.
  • Principles of Building Construction.
  • Set Up and Operate a Circular Saw.
  • Produce Setting Out Details for Bench Joinery.
  • Mark out Setting Out Details for Bench.
  • Manufacture Bench Joinery Products.

You can also develop your skills in communication, numeracy and ICT.
