Overview

This course provides you with an introduction into the Construction Industry. During this course you'll be taught by staff with significant Construction Industry experience where you'll gain experience and knowledge in a variety of construction trades including bricklaying and plastering. 

On successful completion of this course you'll receive an Extended Certificate in Construction Skills at SCQF level 3.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

There are no formal entrance qualifications, but you should be interested in construction and be able to demonstrate this during the application process, as well as in the compulsory pre-course guidance sessions.

 

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject.

 

What you study

You'll learn a range of hand skills and practical tasks in the following trade areas:

  • Bricklaying.
  • Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Plastering.
  • Wall and Floor Tiling.

You'll also have the opportunity to develop skills in communication, numeracy and ICT.

 

After the course

Careers

You'll be able to apply for a SCQF Level 4 course in a number of craft areas or seek employment within the Construction Industry on successful completion of the course.
