Overview

This course provides learners with an introduction to the Construction Industry. During this course, you'll gain experience and knowledge in a variety of construction trades.  On successful completion of this course, you'll receive an Extended Certificate in Construction Skills at SCQF level 3.

This course runs for 6 months from January - June.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

There are no formal entrance qualifications, but you should be interested in construction and be able to demonstrate this during the application process, as well as in the compulsory pre-course guidance sessions.

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject.

What you study

You'll learn a range of hand skills and practical tasks in the following trade areas:

  • Bricklaying.
  • Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Plastering.
  • Wall and Floor Tiling.

You will also have the opportunity to develop skills in communication, numeracy and ICT.

After the course

Careers

Successful students will be able to apply for an SCQF Level 4 course in a number of craft areas or seek employment within the Construction Industry.
