Overview

This course is suited to those who have previous experience in painting and decorating and would like to further develop their skills. On this course, you will cover a variety of sought-after industry requirements from preparing a variety of surfaces for decoration to producing decorative finishes.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Diploma in Painting and Decorating at SCQF Level 5.

This course runs for 6 months from January - June.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • City and Guilds Diploma in Painting and Decorating at SCQF Level 4 or equivalent; OR
  • Relevant qualifications at National 4 (technical); OR
  • Relevant industrial experience.

You will be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you are interested in this subject.

  • Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms.
  • Preparing surfaces for decoration.
  • Applying paint systems by brush and roller.
  • Applying foundation and plain papers.
  • Producing specialist decorative finishes.
  • Applying and creating colour.
  • Health and Safety.
  • Principles of Building Construction.

You can also develop your skills in communication, numeracy and ICT.
