Whether you love to entertain, or just want to raise your game in the kitchen, Gourmet Cookery will give you a wide selection of impressive recipes to add to your repertoire.  Learn how to make the most of your ingredients, elevate your flavours and present your food for maximum impact.  

Dishes range from Duck with Pearl Barley, Spinach and Orange, to Sea Bass with Chilli and Ginger Pak Choi, there’s something for every palate.  You’ll learn gourmet dishes and desserts to please the most discerning diner.

Each week your lecturer will hand out a recipe which will provide your list of ingredients you need to buy for the following week.

Minimum entry requirements

  • This is a fun leisure class for amateur cooks to learn different cookery styles and skills - there are no formal requirements.

What you study

  • Steak Sandwich Demonstration.
  • Roast Duck, Pearl Barley and Spinach, Orange Vinaigrette.
  • Salmon, Beetroot, Citrus Yoghurt, Honey Oats, Rocket.
  • Pan Roast Chicken, Petit Pois a la Francais, Potato Fondant.
  • Coffee Chocolate Brownie, Caramelised Banana, Sweet Cream.
  • Roast Lamb, Anchovy Dressing, Potato and Fennel Salad.
  • Potato Gnocchi, Wild Mushrooms and Parsley Dressed Apple.
  • Grilled Sea Bass, Ginger and Chilli Pak Choi, Noodles.
  • Spiced Chicken, Tomato and Coconut Curry Sauce, Rice.
  • Panna Cotta, Baked Apple, Nuts & Oats.

After the course


Move onto one of our many other evening leisure classes.


How the course is taught

  • The first night will be a practical demonstration by the lecturer and recipes will be issued.
  • There will be lecturer led demonstrations every week and also the chance to ask any questions and taste the food.

Additional Information


All equipment is provided.  You will be required to buy ingredients to bring in with you every week and you'll need containers to take your food home in.

Dress code

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear for the kitchen.
  • Apron to protect your clothing.
  • Tea towel for drying dishes.
