Overview

This course gives you the essential skills and knowledge necessary to carry out a wide range of jobs in a range of business areas.  You'll be taught by staff with relevant industry experience and a proven track record of bringing out the best in their students.  The course is designed to give you a broad education of all functions of business and give you a clear understanding of the business environment.  The option of Business with HR has an emphasis on human resources and will equip you with the skills required to take up further study in the HR field.

Today, the internet is an important part of business, so we've updated the course to include analysing and using information for strategic purposes.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • One Higher at Grade C or above in a relevant* subject; OR
  • NQ Business Level 6 ; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience
* relevant subjects include English, Administration, Business Management, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Studies or a Science subject.

After the course

Careers

You could expect to apply for a trainee management position and/or a team leader in industry or commerce.

Continuing Study

You can apply for HND Business (entry into second year) or apply for a university degree course, with possible entry to either first or second year.

How the course is taught

A mixture of class lecturers, group tasks and presentations.

Assessment methods

All but one of the units that you study are assessed on a continuous basis throughout the year.  You have one end of year exam that assesses your integrated knowledge across the course.
