  • Overview

Architectural Technology is an exciting course which is offered over two years.

In the first year, you will learn various aspects of the construction industry as applied by the ‘Project Team’. This includes the development of various skillsets to encourage collaborative working and promoting a team-based attitude to various working environments and problems.

In second year, the units become more specialised to Architectural Technology. This includes project-based, design-led units such as Conversion and Adaptation of Buildings, CAD Architecture and 3D Modelling, with an emphasis on construction detailing, from domestic to commercial buildings. This project-based learning is further supported by theoretical learning including topics such as design of building structures, fire safety and RIBA plan of work architectural procedures. Finally, these project and theoretical skills are brought together in a practical project where you'll design a Visitors Centre, in the heart of the City on the River Clyde.

You'll be taught using various teaching methods which include site visits to gain experience of industry practice, guest lectures and current industry applied software from AutoCAD to Revit. This is all accomplished through the application of software, collaboration, and teaching methods with a focus to BIM (Building Information Modelling)  The course is delivered by experienced industry professionals including Architects, Engineers and many other professionals.

Successful students will be equipped to move onto university studying Architecture or Architectural Technology or directly into employment.
