This course gives you the essential skills and knowledge necessary to carry out a wide range of jobs in a range of business areas.  You'll be taught by staff with relevant industry experience and a proven track record of bringing out the best in their students.  The course is designed to give you a broad education of all functions of business and give you a clear understanding of the business environment.  The option of Business with Enterprise has an emphasis on enterprise and entrepreneurial skills and will equip you with the skills required in the world of work today. 

Your course will be delivered by our highly professional teaching staff with relevant industry experience and track record of bringing out the best in their students.

This course accepts year two direct entrants (you must have a completed HNC Business, please see further information in direct entry section).

This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 7 (year 1) and Level 8 (year 2). 

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Two Highers at Grade C or above in a relevant* subject; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience

* relevant subjects include English, Administration, Business Management, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Studies or a Science subject.

  • You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview, where you'll get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area.

ESOL entry requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum ESOL Intermediate level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.

You could expect to apply for a trainee management position and/or a team leader in industry or commerce.


How the course is taught

A mixture of class lecturers, group tasks and presentations.

Assessment methods

All but one of the units that you study are assessed on a continuous basis throughout the year.  You have one end of year exam that assesses your integrated knowledge across the course.
