HNC Computer Aided Architectural Design and Technology course is an exciting architectural design led course that links you with contemporary architectural practice; with a mix of design studio, innovative construction technology, architectural history, model making, sketching, 2d/3d cad drawings and visualisation models (using Revit/Autocad/Photoshop), and professional practice units.

The course is delivered and developed by experienced architects and relevant professionals, with a passion for design and the promotion of environmentally conscious architecture.

This design led course focuses on a series of architectural design projects, with design project briefs including an allotment shed for Glasgow’s Tramway, a disaster relief shelter in Mexico, a Maggies Centre in Glasgow city centre, and an artist residency 'Bothy Project' for Creative Scotland in Glasgow’s Pollok Park.

Throughout the course, we run a guest lecture series with speakers from a variety of different architectural practices and architecture schools connecting you with industry and future progression opportunities.

A number of site visits allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding of contemporary architecture and innovative sustainable construction technologies.

HND Computer Aided Architectural Design and Technology adds to the architectural design process understanding developed throughout the HNC year, with a strong focus on architectural technology. The second year units of the HND explore the application of Building Information Modelling through the advanced knowledge of Revit, furthering 3D CAD visualisation skills, and broaden the depth of appreciation for construction technology detailing.  These all blend to form a core foundation of knowledge centred on the design of a Visitor’s Centre within the City of Glasgow College City Campus.
