Overview

The MCA STCW Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship (Refresher) course is an intensive 3-day course and is designed for seafarers who have previously completed the full medical care course and need to update their knowledge and skills. This course meets the requirements of MCA.

This course will run subject to numbers.  All available as block bookings.  The course will run throughout the year - contact us for details.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • You must already hold an STCW medical care onboard ship certificate.
  • You must be at least 16 years old.

  • Recognition and Management of a range of medical and trauma emergencies on board ship.
  • Communications.
  • Making a diagnosis.
  • Female reproductive system and childbirth.
  • Respiratory system.
  • Medications and injections.
  • Urinary Tract, ENT, Dental and Ophthalmic.
  • Communicable Diseases.
  • Wounds.
  • Trauma injuries.

On successful completion, you will receive the MCA STCW Medical Care On Board Ship Refresher certificate.
