Overview

This Electrical Engineering course will equip you with a thorough understanding of the knowledge surrounding electrical engineering technologies. You'll gain an understanding of how electrical circuits work, the variety of components and systems that you may encounter in the Electrical Industry, together with the tools to work in the sector.

This is a nationally recognised award in electrical engineering. This course satisfies one key element of the Modern Apprenticeship framework for Engineering. It provides you with an excellent and thorough grounding in the disciplines that relate to electrical engineering.

If you're looking to be employed within the electrical engineering sector then this is an excellent qualification to support you becoming a technician or apprentice.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Four National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above including Mathematics and a Science subject; OR
  • National Qualification at SCQF level 5 in Electrical Engineering; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

The course is aimed at providing opportunities for you to progress into Electrical Engineering Apprenticeships or other Engineering Sectors.

Continuing Study

This course allows for progression onto the Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering/ Electronic Engineering within the department at level 7.
