Overview
You will develop skills in various techniques of handling ceramic, jewellery and art glass materials. You'll develop your design and drawing skills and understand the practical applications of various media, firing techniques and the use of workshop and studio equipment.
Although a mostly practical course, you'll learn research skills, complete written work and work with digital media. Our blended learning model means there will be smaller groups of focused face to face classes on campus, with classes coming together for online learning. There is a strong ethos of ethical making and sustainability, which will be embedded into your learning.
This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 6.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- National 5 Art and Design and National 5 English at Grade C or above; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
Additional selection requirements
- You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area. Where COVID restrictions are in place we will invite you to either a video meeting, telephone conference call or make an offer based on your application form.
- You’ll be asked to provide examples of your art and design work.
ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum ESOL Intermediate level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.What you study
