Overview

This introductory level creative computing course provides an overview of the key elements of computer games development, computer modelling and animation (2D and 3D).

It will give you the practical and theoretical knowledge you need to progress to higher level courses in a range of areas, including NQ Computing: Games Development (level 6), NQ Computer Modelling and Animation (level 6) or HN level study in these areas.

This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 5.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Three National 4 qualifications including English and Maths or Numeracy and preferably an arts or STEM-based subject; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ESOL entry requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum ESOL Intermediate level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.

After the course

Careers

The course is geared towards further study but employment at entry-level may be possible.

Continuing Study

This course prepares you for advancement to further study at NQ (level 6) or HN (level 7).

Depending on your aptitude, you can progress to NQ Computing: Games Development or NQ Computer Modelling and Animation at level 6. These courses give progression to HN course in Computer Games Development or 3D Computer Animation.

You should note that further progression to a Games Development related course requires competence in Maths related subjects.
