Overview
NQ Computing: Games Development is designed to introduce you to the skills and techniques required to develop skills for further study in areas such as Computer Games Designer, Computer Animation and Digital Media and Web Production and Development.
It provides you with opportunities to gain practical experience in a wide range of creative subjects including Digital Games Design, Programming in a High Level Language and 3D Modelling and Animation. You'll develop an end of year games based project to integrate and showcase your creative skills. The course will also develop Maths based concepts required for study at higher level.
While undertaking this course, you'll also be able to achieve an SQA National Progression Award in Computer Games Development at SCQF Level 6. This will equip you for progression to further studies at HNC/D level.

Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- Three passes at Intermediate two level, including English and Maths OR
- Three Standard Grades at Credit level including English and Maths OR
- Three National 5 passes including English and Maths OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview, where you'll get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this field. It would be helpful if you can bring any previous programming and/or design portfolio relevant to games design.

How the course is taught
The course consists of a series of projects which you will undertake through from initial brief to final development. The projects are designed to develop your skills in investigation, research, project development and problem solving, leading to the development and testing of your completed game designs.
The course lecturers will provide guidance and support in practical and design tasks through class discussion, demonstrations and one-to-one tutorials.
