Overview

The NQ in Computing with Digital Media at SCQF level 5 develops knowledge and understanding of general computing and digital media as well as specific areas of choice. This course develops practical, technical, creative and transferable skills that will provide opportunities to advance to higher-level courses.

This qualification covers areas such as digital media for applications, application development, digital media integration, creative computing, information literacy, network literacy and social media literacy. There is also a creative computing project.

National Qualifications are designed for full-time delivery over one year.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Three National 4 qualifications including English and Maths or Numeracy; OR 
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

Additional selection requirements

  • You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you'll get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area.

ESOL entry requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum ESOL Intermediate level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.

  • Networking.
  • Programming.
  • Animation.
  • Digital media, eg images, audio, video.

After the course

Careers

Entry-level positions however the majority of our students go onto further study.

Continuing Study

Students can go on to study at NQ Level 6 courses or possibly Higher National level courses. The most common are our NQ Computing, HNC Technologies into Business, Web Development and Digital Design. You may be accepted onto other computing-related courses.
