Overview

This course gives students with basic knowledge, skills and cake decorating techniques an opportunity to develop those skills further.

This course comprises of two SQA Units:-  

  • Cake Decoration: Advanced Sugar Paste (SCQF Level 5). 
  • Cake Decoration: Creative Design and Development (SCQF Level 6).

The units are demanding, as the theoretical and practical work is of a high standard. The course gives you an opportunity to refine a wide variety of cake decorating techniques. The course is ideally suited to those employed in the industry.

Students will be required to purchase PPE and tools and equipment appropriate to the tasks.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • NQ Introduction to Cake Decoration
  • Numeracy and Communication at SCQF Level 4.
  • Cake Decoration, Home Economics, Food Technology or Catering at SCQF Level  5 or equivalent.

Additional selection requirements

  • You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area.
  • Current or former City of Glasgow College students will be asked to provide a Tutor Reference.
