Overview

This is an access course for any of our Level 6 Sports courses.  It is aimed at developing basic Sports Coaching skills such as leadership and teamwork.  It will also develop your knowledge in areas which are further developed on the Coaching pathway such as anatomy, sports development,  and fitness. There is a practical focus on the course where we will teach you skills in several sports and you will also get the opportunity to lead your classmates in some sporting activity.
This course will suit you if you are currently involved in sport and are interested in a career as a Sports Coach.

The course will run for 6 months from January to June 2018.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • 3 National 4’s or equivalent - one must be English.

You should be involved in a sporting activity.

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview, where you'll get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in the subject.

This is an access course which will enable progression onto a Level 6 course such as NQ6 Sports Coaching.

Teaching

How the course is taught

This is a full-time course which includes practical and theory content.  It is continual assessment.

Assessment methods

Practical assessments will be undertaken along with some exams and completion of various logbooks.

Additional Information

Materials

You should bring paper and a pen to each class.  You will also need to have sport trainers suitable for a sports hall environment

Dress code

You will need to wear your college kit for practical classes and when you are doing any external activities with us.  This will be provided.
