Overview

This course will help you develop basic skills and knowledge about the Travel and Tourism Industry. It provides you with a general preparation for working in the industry and is a good foundation for building specialist skills (please see the 'What you Study' section, below, to find out more).

You'll be taught by highly qualified lecturers who have a wealth of experience in Travel and Tourism.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • One National 5 qualification at Grade C or above AND two National 4 qualifications including English; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area.  Where COVID restrictions are in place we will invite you to either a video meeting, telephone conference call or make an offer based on your application form.

ESOL entry requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum ESOL Intermediate level 2 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher for HNC/D courses.

  • An Introduction to Travel and Tourism.
  • Working as Air Cabin Crew.
  • Airport Ground Operations.
  • Tourist Destinations.
  • Selling Skills.

You'll also study French, German Spanish/Italian and visit local tourism facilities to give you a taste of what Scotland can offer visitors.

After the course

Careers

This course will help you prepare for a career in the Travel and Tourism Industry. Employment opportunities include airport check-in staff, airport ground crew, retail travel agent, holiday representative.

Continuing Study

Successful students could progress to a higher level course NC Level 6 Travel and Tourism.
