At City of Glasgow College we recognise and acknowledge the importance of industry engagement to address the skills demands of industry. Our Learning and Teaching Model, City Learning 4, focuses on industry led skills development to ensure we match the skills of students with the needs of employers. Our Learning and Teaching approach is fully supported by a process of continual professional development and robust quality assurance processes under the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), so all learners benefit from the highest quality teaching and learning possible, delivered by professional and highly motivated staff.
Our industry engagement is delivered through our Industry Academy Model and has resulted in the development of a suite of focused, sector relevant, skills and training programmes that have been co-designed by industry to support a skills and talent pipeline to industry. Our Teacher Training Industry Academy supports qualified and experienced lecturers, facilitates an introduction to teaching for those in/ wishing to work within an educational or training environment and offers subject specialist upskilling and/or retraining of teaching and industry workforces throughout the world. The Teacher Training Industry Academy works to enhance tutor/learner relationships through active communicative and collaborative learning and to transform pedagogic teaching practices, whilst supporting and mentoring those new to the profession.
The College sets itself the highest standards when it comes to providing high-quality Teacher Training programmes with all tutor’s subject specialists in their areas offering innovative and flexible learning. City of Glasgow College is experienced in hosting senior officials, scholars and lecturers from our international partner institutions and delivers short term teacher training. Sharing our best teaching practice and knowledge with our partners has created a platform to compare various teaching techniques adopted in the global arena.
