City of Glasgow College has developed a newly validated HNC in Facilities Management. It is the first college in Scotland to offer this SQA awarded qualification.

The course will integrate the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management.

Kay Sheridan, Faculty Director for Education & Society at City of Glasgow College, said:

“Facilities Management professionals are responsible for services that enable and support business. It is the fastest growing sector in the country so I am delighted that City of Glasgow College is now offering this course which is a result of an exciting employer led development.

“This is the first time this course will be provided by a college in Scotland. The need was identified following discussions with a number of employers in the industry including NHS Education for Scotland and the wider facilities management sector as the college was committed to ensuring both public and private sector views were heard.”

Prospective students across the country will now be able to access the course at the college’s new City campus on Glasgow’s Cathedral Street, where the year-long blended learning programme combines workshops with online learning.”

Gail Dennett, Learning and Development Lead with NHS Education Scotland, said:

“NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is pleased to be involved in designing the HNC Facilities Management qualification in partnership with City of Glasgow College and private enterprise. This new qualification provides an excellent development opportunity for NHS Scotland Estates and Facilities staff.”

The college and qualification design team are now starting to develop an HND qualification as the next step in the progression pathway.
