As City of Glasgow College welcomed students to the start of the new academic year, its new City campus on Glasgow’s Cathedral Street was the venue for Inspirational Icon Day hosted by global hair manufacturer, Wella.

The Look and Learn Seminar was presented by Patrick Cameron, widely acknowledged by his peers as the world’s long hair expert.

The event, attended by over 100 hairdressing salons and hair experts from across Scotland, highlighted the basics of working with long hair and showed a selection of styles ranging from traditional through to bridal and contemporary.

Shona Martin, Curriculum Head for Hairdressing at City of Glasgow College, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Patrick Cameron to City of Glasgow College, our new City campus and its fantastic state of the art hair salons. Patrick travels all around the world and can be booked up to a year in advance so it was very special to have him here to host this prestigious event. It was also an ideal opportunity to bring our hairdressing courses and talented students to the attention of potential employers from across the country.”

Patrick Cameron said:

"I was incredibly honoured and excited to give a hairdressing demonstration on the very first day that students have seen their new campus.

"Hairdressing is such a creative industry where your environment is so important. The environment the college has created is second to none and gives students a great opportunity to look forward positively in their career and to always demand excellence."

Originally from New Zealand, Patrick settled in the UK in 1987 setting up a Training School in London and regularly demonstrating his skills at prestigious hairdressing events world-wide. Each year he visits at least five hairdressing colleges to demonstrate his skills and pass on his expertise to young hairdressing students.
