College strengthens ties with industry to benefit students

Students at City of Glasgow College can look forward to top industry placements thanks to the college’s successful partnership with Exchange Communications.

The leading telecommunications and connectivity specialist is renewing its sponsorship for the college’s SCQF level 7 and 8 computer networking students.

The ongoing alliance was reinforced at the college’s City campus with a workshop for students and staff on the future of smart building technology and in-building coverage solutions.

Roy Gardner, Vice Principal for Corporate Development & Innovation at City of Glasgow College, said:

"We are delighted that our ongoing partnership with Exchange Communications will continue to provide excellent opportunities for our students.

“The recent tech workshop was a huge success, giving our students first-hand knowledge on the challenges and trends within the industry."

Tom Sime, Managing Director of Exchange Communications, said:

“Our first year in partnership with City of Glasgow College has been a resounding success.

“We have been very impressed with the calibre of students undertaking industry placements with us and were pleased to be able to offer them that all-important practical experience.

“The workshop was another example of how we will offer valuable industry insights as our highly productive partnership continues.”

The agreement between Scotland’s flagship college and Exchange Communications was launched in June 2017. It delivers work experience, including onsite shadowing and mentoring with Exchange’s specialist team, with students having the chance to see first-hand how tailored communications packages are set up to meet the needs of business.
