New apprenticeship partnership with Compass Scotland

City of Glasgow College has launched a new apprenticeship partnership with the UK’s largest food and support services provider.

The new partnership will see Scotland’s flagship college deliver apprenticeships for Compass Scotland across a range of areas including Business Administration, Food and Drink, Hospitality Services, Professional Cookery and Facilities Management.

The college currently delivers up to 600 apprenticeships a year across key industry sectors including hairdressing and barbering, procurement, digital, health and social care, children and young people, as well as maritime and engineering.

Lisa McCarthy, Workforce Development Co-ordinator at City of Glasgow College, said:

“We’re delighted to be working with Compass Scotland to deliver a wide range of professional and technical training courses for their staff. Modern apprenticeships are not only a well-recognised route into employment, but an important tool in addressing skills gaps.

“As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to impact on jobs across a number of sectors, the apprenticeship scheme also offers employers the chance to reskill or upskill their employees.”

Compass Group UK & Ireland is the UK’s largest food and support services provider, working across sectors including education, sports and leisure, and business and industry catering.

Jonathan Foot, Head of Apprenticeships and Early Careers for Compass Group UK & Ireland, said:

“Compass is proud of the learning and development opportunities we offer our team and we are so pleased to be working with City of Glasgow College to deliver some of our 100 apprenticeships. This partnership will help us to develop the skills of both existing and new talent, so that even more people can find long lasting careers with Compass Scotland.”
