Talented students designmakerestore at The Briggait

City of Glasgow College furniture design and restoration students are showcasing their talents at an End of Year exhibition in Glasgow’s Briggait.

The second year HND Furniture Restoration and Furniture Craftsmanship with Design students have produced a beautifully presented and thoughtful display of bespoke items that include William Morris themed Scottish oak chairs and the half-moon daisy hall table which took top gold medal honours at this year’s Craftex awards.

George Potter is an HND Furniture Craftsmanship with Design student who produced the William Morris chairs:

“City of Glasgow College is the only college in Scotland offering courses in furniture making which I have always been interested in. I have my own workshop where I design and craft items on commission. The Design Make Restore Glasgow exhibition acts as a launchpad for makers. It also gives us experience of putting together an exhibit, an understanding of what is possible and how to put everything together on a professional scale.”

The students also managed to secure sponsorship for their launch evening from WEST Brewery, Martin Miller Gin and Tunnock’s - to name but a few.

Design Make Restore Glasgow runs until Thursday 30 June from 10.00am to 6.00pm.
