Triple Crown awaits Glasgow Super College

City of Glasgow College has been shortlisted for three prestigious architectural awards that will be announced this week.

The college’s stunning new City campus has been nominated for the RIAS and RIBA Awards 2017, which are presented for best current Scottish architecture.

The state of the art building in the heart of Glasgow’s Learning Quarter is also up for the Architects’ Journal Building of the Year which is given to the finest building completed by an AJ100 listed practice in the last 12 months. The college has also made the shortlist for the AJ100 Client of the Year award.

Since opening to staff and students in August 2016, City campus has welcomed almost 10,000 visitors keen to view its striking atrium, and its technologically advanced industry standard facilities which complement the vast open and inspiring learning and teaching environment.

Principal and Chief Executive of City of Glasgow College, Paul Little, said:

“Being shortlisted for three major architectural awards in one week is just incredible. I am delighted that our amazing super college City campus is among such prestigious company for these highly valued prizes. Our Riverside maritime campus has already won 11 architectural awards in under two years and we again have high hopes for City.

“These nominations underline what students and staff at our College already know; that we have a world class inspiring place to work and learn in. Our fingers are firmly crossed for Wednesday.”

City Campus recently collected the award for Education Building of the Year 2017 at the Scottish Design Awards and is also shortlisted for this year’s British Construction Industry Awards: Major Building Project of the Year [over £50m].

The winning entries of the RIAS Awards and the two AJ100 Awards will be announced on Wednesday 14 June.
