Disabled Students Allowance and Trust Funds

Disabled Students

Disabled students may get help with the cost of transport from the College. This depends on what other financial help is available to you. We also have a dedicated Learning Support Team who can provide practical help and support to meet your needs in addition to course work and assessments. Visit our Learning Support page for more information.

SAAS Disabled Students’ Allowance

Students who have a disability or an additional learning need and studying at SCQF level 7 and above can apply to the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) for help with additional expenses related to studying. For example, a student with Dyslexia may get support towards the cost of specialist software which helps with study. This support is not linked to household income.

How to Apply

Students should contact our Learning Support Team to arrange a needs assessment. Email learningsupport@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk or telephone 0141 375 5510.

Trust Funds

There are many trust funds and scholarships available to students. These may depend on your circumstances, family and where you live. Normally, you need to do a lot of research and make applications to funding providers before you start your course. To help, we have collated a useful list of external trust funds.

SAAS has produced a Register of Educational Endowments for students seeking additional funding streams.

The Turn 2 Us website is a useful tool to search for trust funds and scholarships. Another portal you can use is Lightning Reach. They provide a single search option and are continuously adding providers to their search facility.
