Dylan's story

Dylan Duff

I’m Dylan Duff and after working for some time with the Student Executive team within the Students’ Association, I was elected Student President for 2019/20.

Here’s a bit about me…

When I was in High School, I got the opportunity to take part in a day release programme where I went to college and studied N4 Early Education and Childcare.

Doing this course made me realise that, whilst I enjoyed subjects such as history and chemistry, I was most passionate when I was learning about social care. That’s why I made the decision to leave school and apply to City of Glasgow College.

I chose the college as I really liked the atmosphere, and it was offering a course in NC Child, Health and Social Care. This allowed me to learn and gain a deeper insight into the field I’d wanted to work in, in the future.

I joined the college in 2016 and was immediately keen to find out more about the Students’ Association. I decided to become a Class Rep as I wanted to effectively represent the students in my class. Through this, I was elected as Faculty Rep, where I got the opportunity to work more closely with the Students’ Association to improve the student experience.

I’ve met so many inspiring students and staff who work or volunteer for the Students' Association, and I love being part of a team who influence change at City.

I enjoy working with people and my courses have really helped me to effectively work with students and staff within the college. I progressed to HNC Social Services and will take a year out – to be Student President - before going onto.

I am excited and honoured to be working with CitySA for 2019-2020, where I’m sure we will have yet another incredible year of campaigning, supporting and representing students.
