Evening, weekend or distance learning courses

When can I book an evening or weekend course?

Applications are open now, you can book on the website using a debit/credit card.

What if I can't book online?

You can make a telephone booking by calling Student Services on 0141 375 5193. You can also come and speak to us in person at our City Campus, Glasgow.

What happens when I book?

You'll be asked to complete a simple registration process to create your account and complete the booking process. You'll need a current email and we'll use this to contact you if we need to. Once you’ve set this up, you can view your booked courses and confirm the start date, time, location and fee.

What about fees?

Our evening and weekend courses have a fee which is shown on the course information page but you may get some help depending on your income.

Do you offer fee waivers?

On some courses we have a limited number of fee waivers. To check availability and book call Student Services.  To hold your fee waiver place you'll be asked for a £5 deposit.  You'll then need to complete the fee waiver application form and take it to our Finance Office together with proof of eligibility within 5 working days to secure your place.

Can I use my Individual Learning Account (ILA)?

ILA is getting a refresh over the summer. This means that the existing scheme will be closed to new applications for a few months.

The revised scheme will come into effect in October and will be called an Individual Training Account (ITA). If you’re eligible then you’ll still be entitled to funding of up to £200 per year towards a course. The differences are that you’ll only be able to do one course in any learner year, and that courses will be geared towards helping you with getting a job or progressing in your career.

For further information see SDS My World of Work.

Existing ILA accounts can continue to be used against any eligible courses which commence prior to 30th September 2017.

What if my employer, or another company is paying for my course?

To book please call Student Services. We'll need your personal details and your company’s details.  Once you’ve booked your course you'll receive a Company Authorisation form by email which should be returned to finance@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk. before the start date of the course.

What if I want to book for someone else, or book a course as a gift?

You can make a telephone booking by calling Student Services and have your credit/debit card handy.  You’ll need to have the student’s name, date of birth and information about any additional support they might need together with your contact details.

What if I change my mind, or want to cancel?

If you’ve booked a course and need to cancel before the course has started we’ll offer a refund less 20% of the course fee, for administration. If you’ve booked using your Individual Learning Account (ILA) we’ll send you an invoice for the 20% administration fee. If you do not bring in your documentation for a Fee Waiver within the 5 working days the £5 is non-refundable.
If you choose to withdraw once a course has started, unfortunately, we cannot offer you a refund. Transfers from one course to another course or from one term to another term are generally treated as a withdrawal.

What if the college cancels the course?

Courses will only run where there are a sufficient number of bookings. If you’ve booked and we need to cancel the course we’ll give you a full refund. We’ll let you know as soon as possible if the course is to be cancelled and we will use your email and telephone details to contact you directly.
