The Centre will be totally self supporting and has high quality accommodation and a wide range of on-campus facilities including a swimming pool, sports and gym facilities. For teaching, a variety of modern classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, specialist workshops, a learning resource centre and student support facilities will be available.

75 operational staff will be employed by the centre, including specialist maritime academics. City of Glasgow College is recruiting for a Head of Centre as well as specialist Maritime and Engineering Lecturing staff.

The Head of Centre position is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be involved in creating and developing a brand new Maritime Training Centre.  Initially for a 3 year contract period, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the strategic aims of the centre, preparing and controlling operational budgets, and leading and managing a large team to achieve the required standards of academic delivery.

You will possess a Class One Deck or Engineering Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) or a degree in a relevant Maritime discipline, and be able to provide evidence of working with the recruitment and training functions of the shipping industry. A fluent English-speaker (knowledge of Portuguese would be advantageous), well organised and with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines with little supervision, you will be pro-active and able to deal with unexpected emergency situations and to work well under pressure.

Lecturing Staff must hold Class 1 Certificates (or equivalent). Teaching experience and qualifications would be advantageous. Placements in Angola would be for a minimum of 3 months. Family accommodation is available on campus.
