About This Course: 

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) course at the City of Glasgow College gives formal recognition to accounting skills through an education and training course linked to the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). It also gives the benefits of membership of a Professional accounting organisation.

AAT is ideal either for those already in an accounting environment or for those entering the accounting workplace from school, or from another type of employment, and who wish to acquire knowledge and understanding of accounting.

What You Need: 

The two stages of the AAT are linked to SCQF levels 6 and 8. The stage you start at will depend on your qualifications and experience, and you should call or email the Course Leader (Stephen Arbuthnot) to discuss which entry level is right for you.

What You Study: 
  • AAT Level 6 Diploma in Accounting - Accounts Preparation I & II, Costs and Revenues, Cash Management, Indirect Tax, Spreadsheets Software, and Professional Ethics.
  • AAT Level 8 Diploma in Accounting - Financial Statements, Budgeting, Financial Performance, Internal Control and Accounting Systems, Personal Tax, Business Tax or External Auditing.
After The Course: 

You can study for membership of senior professional accounting organisations including ICAS, ACCA, CIMA and CIPFA.

  • Level 6: One year on a Wednesday from 9am – 4.45pm
  • Level 8: Year 1 – Thursday 9am-4.45pm and Year 2 – Tuesday from 9am/1pm-4.15pm
