Advanced European Computer Driving Licence
Overview
The Advanced European Computer Driving Licence (AECDL) is a recognised certificate that’s accepted throughout Europe as evidence of advanced computer skills.
Completion of the Advanced ECDL will prove that an individual's competence with applications is well above the basic skill level, and will help determine suitability for jobs involving application use at a higher level. It will also increase the value to all skilled, qualified staff.
No specific educational qualifications are required and entry is open to anyone with relevant work experience and the necessary literacy and numeracy skills required at this level.
£154.50 per module. This course is ILA registered.

There are 4 units in the AECDL:
- Word Processing - Produce advanced word processing outputs including tables, forms and graphs; use macros; use advanced mailmerge operations.
- Databases - Perform advanced queries; create/amend relationships; change field properties; create forms and form controls; create reports; create action queries; use macros.
- Presentations - Change colour schemes and background effects; use clipart and drawing tools; manipulate images; add animation, sound and video clips; create/edit flowcharts; use macros; create links to external objects.
- Spreadsheets - Sort, query and link data; advanced formatting and presentation operations on charts and graphs; use logical, statistical and mathematical functions; use scenarios and pivot tables; use macros.
You can go on to study the HNC Computing part-time course or the HNC Information Technology.

Course duration is 12 weeks per module excluding assessment. The course is also available on a distance learning basis.
