Life Drawing: A Contemporary Approach

The course will explore the practice of life drawing by working directly from the model. You will learn about measurement and analysis, materials and technique and develop an understanding of form, proportion and structure. This will include anatomy, line quality, tone, proportion and foreshortening. You will learn techniques derived from traditional methods of working and develop through studies of mark-making to lay the basis for departures to a more fluid and intuitive contemporary approach to drawing the human form. Demonstrations will be given at the start of most classes and one-to-one tutorials when needed. Beginners and experienced students and artists welcome.
