Georgia Porteous

I am a Glasgow-based multidisciplinary designer currently completing a BA (Hons) in Design Practice at City of Glasgow College. My studies have allowed me to explore a broad range of techniques, experiment with new visual languages, and continually expand my creative skill set, all of which shape the way I approach my work. I specialise in printmaking, across a variety of forms, with a particular focus on texture and materiality. My practice is hands-on and exploratory, driven by engaging directly with materials and allowing experimentation to lead the development of ideas.

My degree explores queer culture and identity, beginning with research into queer history and evolving into a reflection of queer lives today. The work centres on documenting personal experiences and perspectives, considering how these stories can be shared, held and preserved. Through printed textiles and ceramics, I investigated different material approaches for presenting both image and text. This experimentation allowed me to test how surface, form and process can carry narrative, creating a body of work that gathers multiple voices and lived experiences into a tangible, physical form.
