Events with Gary Maclean

Gary Maclean is a senior chef lecturer at the college and the winner of MasterChef: The Professionals 2016. He was appointed Scotland's first National Chef by the Scottish Government to promote Scotland as a Good Food Nation. In this role, Gary celebrates the rich larder of produce that Scotland has available and advocates the use of locally sourced, healthy, sustainable and affordable food.

Gary hosts regular events at the college including his very popular Saturday Cook School where guests learn to prep and cook dishes with hints and tips along the way. His Christmas Demo proved a hit when he delivered a course by course demonstration of how to cook the perfect Christmas lunch with the audience sampling dishes along the way. His Valentine Dinner at Scholars, our college training restaurant, was a sell-out with guests enjoying a romantic themed four-course meal introduced by Gary followed by a Q & A session.

I really enjoyed the evening and Gary came across very well, chatty, funny, knowledgeable and very entertaining.

I thought he did great on MasterChef and I was really interested in seeing him cooking and hearing about his experiences.

Having followed Garys journey on Masterchef, it was great to see him on his home ground.
