Omar Alonso Naranjo
I am an illustrator and printmaker working with a range of techniques and media, mainly focusing on linocut and digital illustration. I love to make work about what I see around me in the world, and I am inspired by the small things that tend to go unnoticed: urban birds picking at food, stickers on lampposts, or a song that’s been stuck in my head. With my artwork I celebrate these “mundane” things for exactly what they are, and I try to put some positivity and joy into the world around me in the process.
STICK UP FOR IT: DESIGN PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Protest stickers are an ever-present sight in shared spaces: covering traffic lights and fences, restroom stalls and hand dryers, laptops and bottles, each is a demand for a better world. My design project, STICK UP FOR IT, is a not-for-profit initiative that channels the power of stickers towards real-world social change. By raising awareness of key issues, signposting people to organisations who combat those issues directly, and raising funds to support them, STICK UP FOR IT bridges the gap between protest stickers and the root issues behind them.
