Reyna Beaton

Reyna Beaton

My name is Reyna and I’m a multidisciplined designer and mixed media artist. I primarily work in analogue mediums however, throughout my time at college, I have built up my digital skills that I occasionally integrate into my practice. I try to maintain consistency through both my professional and personal practice through my use of artistic style. Some of the mediums I gravitate to most often are screen printing, ceramics and graphite. This year, I have heavily focused on advancing my skills in ceramics as I love the creative freedom it provides and its ability to break boundaries of what we expect artwork to look like. I am currently at the end of my BA (Hons) Design Practice at City Of Glasgow College however, I intend on continuing my creative journey and creating more personal work after I graduate.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Religion is something that has enticed me. Sitting in the pews at church it always felt as though I was observing it from some detached perspective. I became deeply obsessed with the continued use of its symbolism in a culture that felt so distant from its origin. Through this project, I wanted to explore the idea of a dying religion and how it remains present in the current day.
