Lorenza Vignal

Lorenza Vignal

My name is Lorenza, I’m a French photographer based in Glasgow, specialising in documentary photography. My interest in photography began when I inherited my first film camera. It belonged to my uncle, who was a French photojournalist in the 70's. From that day on, I started taking my camera everywhere with me to document my everyday life, my friends, the places I went to, and anything that caught my eye.

I moved to Glasgow in 2022 to study Photography at City of Glasgow College. There, I discovered the processing room and darkroom, where I would soon spend most of my free time. People and their stories inspire me, and I try to transcribe these through my images.

End of Year Show Description

Golondrina

This project documents the Spanish community of Mauguio, a village in the south of France shaped by waves of migration. Through these images, I explore how identity is carried across generations, whether through language, traditions, gestures, and silence. Having grown up in Mauguio and now living in Glasgow, this work is deeply personal, reflecting my own sense of belonging between places. By listening to these people’s stories, I aim to translate these experiences into images and create a visual project that honors memory, resilience, and the ways these histories continue to live on, often overlooked.
