Mary Dillon
My name is Mary Dillon, and I have just completed my final year studying a BA (Hons) in Photography.
As a member of many young theatre companies, I have a great love for capturing production. Documentary, Unit Stills and Chemical Print Making are my areas of work. I find being a fly on the wall around creative people a privilege and my commercial work exists as a testament to the graft of others. My artistic work leans away from the impact of people and more to the intensity of nature, using mixed media and moonlight to create chemical-based photographic prints. My photography is a witness to who and what is around me.
End Of Year Project
In 2023, the Citizens Theatre commissioned a play based on the history of the âClose Theatre Glasgowâ. Over the course of three years, I followed the creation of this play. The project âCloseâ was created as a love letter to the hard work and complete dedication that I was privileged enough to witness as a fly on the wall during this production.
The project has been isolated into three parts to better represent the work of different production departments. The first is âPaperâ, which showcases the writing and script work of âCloseâ. The second is the âStillsâ produced for the play, which capture the performances of its actors and the third is âCostumeâ which highlights the detailed work of each costuming piece.Â
